The big ballroom wedding is no longer the only definition of a celebration. Couples are looking for beautiful settings, meaningful guest experiences, incredible food and wine, and a day that feels like them.
And in the Okanagan, that naturally leads us toward vineyards.
With the lake, mountains, rolling vines, golden-hour light and incredible local food and wine, the Okanagan has something that is difficult to recreate anywhere else. Local venues are already marketing intimate vineyard celebrations, lake views and destination-style experiences for the 2026 and 2027 wedding seasons.
So what will 2027 actually look like?

One of the biggest shifts we expect to see in 2027 is couples moving away from choosing one or two traditional wedding colours and instead creating a full colour story.
Warm terracotta and dusty peach
Butter yellow and soft cream
Olive, sage and deeper vineyard greens
Burgundy, plum and wine-inspired tones
Soft blue paired with peach
Rich rust, copper and caramel
Champagne, ivory and warm neutrals with one unexpected bold colour
The Okanagan is particularly well suited to this approach.
Rather than competing with the landscape, couples can use colour to complement it. Vineyard greens become part of the palette. The lake becomes the inspiration for blue. Sunset brings in peach, coral, amber and terracotta. Autumn vineyards naturally lend themselves to rust, burgundy and plum.
Local Okanagan wedding styling is already showing both soft neutrals and more expressive colour combinations, including blue and peach, monochromatic greens and brighter sunset-inspired palettes.
The return of bold colour
For a while, weddings leaned heavily into white, beige, champagne and very muted palettes.
Those aren't going anywhere, but 2027 is likely to see couples become much more confident with colour.

And what ABOUT LARGE WEDDINGS? are they disappearing?
Large weddings aren't disappearing.
There will always be couples who want 120, 150 or 200 guests, and the Okanagan has plenty of venues capable of hosting larger celebrations.
But the trend is likely to be toward intentional scale.
If a couple wants 150 guests, they will increasingly ask:
"Can this venue make 150 people still feel special?"
That's a very different question from simply asking whether the venue can fit 150 chairs.
For larger celebrations, expect more attention to guest flow, lounge areas, cocktail experiences, transportation, late-night food and ways to break the evening into different experiences.
What will 2027 Okanagan weddings feel like?
If i had to sum it up, i would say:
Warm. Personal. Colourful. Local. Experiential.
The 2027 Okanagan wedding won't necessarily be the biggest wedding.
It will be the wedding people remember.
It might be 50 people sitting at one long table overlooking the vines.
It might be 100 guests enjoying a long dinner with local wine and a live band.
It might be a colourful summer celebration surrounded by vineyards.
Or it might be an intimate ceremony followed by an incredible dinner and a weekend exploring the Okanagan with family and friends.
The common thread is that couples are becoming much more intentional about how they want their guests to feel.
And that is exactly where the Okanagan shines.

If you're planning a 2027 wedding or event in the Okanagan, don't feel like you need to chase every new trend.
Instead, start with the things that make the, florals, music, lighting region special.
